DESIVENT
CONDENSATION ON WINDOWS
(Click
on thumbnails for larger image...)
When
outside weather conditions are cold and interior air temperature
conditions are warm, condensation forms on inside window panes.
This is due to the dewpoint effect of the cold surface condensing
the moisture from the warmer air. This effect will increase
greatly where there are people or pets inside the building expelling
moisture in their breath.
The only effective way to deal with this problem is a combination
of background heating & trickle ventilation.
Good wall insulation & double glazing
also helps due to the fact that these methods smooth the inside
to outside temperature variations.
Absorbant
strips can be placed on the bottom of the window to prevent
damage from collecting water.
